Cardiff City winger Karlan Grant has spoken about his time with the Bluebirds, and discussed the chances of making his move to the Cardiff City Stadium permanent.

The English winger is on loan at Cardiff from West Brom, whom he joined in 2020 for a £15 million fee. He struggled to nail down a place at The Hawthorn, moved to Cardiff on deadline day in August 2023 on a temporary basis.

Cardiff City fans have been keen to see Grant’s transfer made permanent. He has scored twice and assisted this season, with his partnership with Jamilu Collins being a bright spark in an inconsistent Cardiff attack.

However, the winger has poured water on talk of him staying at Cardiff City, despite admitting he was enjoying his time with the Bluebirds.

Karlan Grant’s Transfer Is Out Of His Control

Karlan Grant claims a transfer to Cardiff City in the summer is “out of my control”.

In an interview with Roathboy, Karlan Grant reiterated that he had a contract with West Brom, so could not discuss any rumoured transfers at the time being.

However, he did not that he was enjoying his time with Cardiff City, so a permanent transfer to the Bluebirds could still be on the cards!

“I have a contract at West Brom and respect that” Grant said. “So that’s something that the two clubs would need to speak about. I’m enjoying my time here a lot, but that’s something that is out of my control.”

Grant also revealed that he joined Cardiff City to get more playing time, as he was out favour at West Brom.

He also knew some of the current Cardiff squad, which made joining the Bluebirds an easy choice for the former Huddersfield player.

“I wanted to try and go out and get some more game time.” Grant added. “Cardiff showed how much they wanted me to come here.

“I spoke to Robbo and Romaine, plus I know Cardiff from playing here previously. I know the last few years have not gone how Cardiff would want them to go, but it’s a big city and a good football club. It was a challenge I wanted to take on.
