Cardiff City Boss Erol Bulut has claimed that young star Joel Colwill needs a loan spell away from the side, to help aid his devlopment into a first-team team.
Colwill is the younger brother of Wales International Rubin Colwill, who burst onto the scene as an 18-year old just two years ago. The 19-year-old Joel Colwill signed his first professional contract with the Bluebirds this summer, before making his debut against Colchester United in the League Cup.
Sadly, Colwill has found opportunity lacking in Cardiff, with Bluebird’s boss Erol Bulut hoping to send him out on loan to League One to aid the development of the attacking midfielder.
Speaking to Wales Online, Erol Bulut also noted that he’s looking for a loan for a number of youngsters, including Cameron Antwi, Morgan Wigley and Cian Ashford.
“I have some players who train with us,” Bulut said. “I don’t only watch the game, I add them to the training sessions so I can see which players I can have from there. I can’t always make transfers, so I have to see what I can use (from the academy) and if they can help us.
“Joel Colwill has trained many times with us, Ashford, Cameron Antwi has been with us, the left winger who was injured for eight months (Morgan Wigley). Four or five players we take always to see what we can take into the squad.
“Joel was with us in the training camp in Portugal. He is doing really well and I think he can be useful for us. Maybe not until the end of the season. Maybe in January we could loan him out to League One or League Two so he can have experience, so for the new season he can be a good addition.
“In pre-season then we can see how he has progressed and we can decide if he needs another loan or whether the stays with us. The same goes for the other guys, Ashford and the midfielder (Antwi).”
